Easy Butter Chicken

Here is what you'll need!


2 lbs of chicken breast
salt and pepper
1 tsp of chili powder
1/2 tsp of ground turmeric
6 tbsp of butter, divided into 2 tbsp chunks
1 1/2 cups of yellow onion, diced
3 tsp of garam masala
1 tsp of chili powder
1 tsp of cumin
1 tsp of cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp. of grated ginger
3 garlic cloves, minced
3โ€ stick of cinnamon
14 oz of tomato sauce
1 cup of water
1 cup of heavy cream
chopped cilantro for garnish


Marinate chicken breast in chili powder, turmeric, salt and pepper. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

Brown chicken in 2 Tbsp. of butter, remove and set aside.

Melt another 2 Tbsp. of butter over medium heat, add onions, garlic, garam masala, grated ginger, chili powder, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Cook until fragrant.

Add the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Add the water and cream, bring back to a simmer. Return the chicken and simmer covered for another 10 -15 minutes.

Stir in the last 2 tbsp of butter and additional salt and pepper to taste.

Serve garnished with cilantro on top of rice. Enjoy!

    1. LOL this made me laugh because I am an Indian. If you have tasted both of these dishes you would not say that!

  4. Look, I’m Indian and I understand everyone’s pain. But honestly, this recipe isn’t for Indians! That’s the whole point, to introduce a EASIER dish that you can make for dinner. There is no need to get so mad, if YOU find this gross, DON’T MAKE IT.

  6. I’m from India and what is this recipe. Not even close to the real one

    Melt 4 tablespoon butter
    Add 1 piece flat chicken (Pound it between two laying plastic with your own fist)
    Add in 1 onion & garlic (minced/ blended/pestle mortar)
    Add in 1/2 tablespoon salt
    Cook it like for 2 to 5 minutes each side.

    PS: For more buttery and saucy dishes, just drizzle this dish with a mix of oil and more melted butter.
    Eat this with freshly baked homemade donut dough.
